Contributor guide

16 April 2026

v0id_deck exists to give the cybersecurity community a practitioner-owned space to publish real, unfiltered work. We provide the platform, the reach, and the credibility. You provide the voice.

This page covers everything you need to know — what we publish, how to submit, and the terms that apply. For Markdown voice and formatting conventions, see the Editorial style guide.

What we publish

Contributions are open to anyone with genuine knowledge and perspective to share. We do not gatekeep by title, certification, or seniority. We do, however, maintain editorial standards.

Written content

  • Technical write-ups and walkthroughs
  • CTI analysis and threat research
  • Opinion and commentary on cybersecurity culture, industry trends, or the profession
  • Post-mortems, lessons learned, and honest reflections
  • Career and community perspectives
  • Half-formed ideas worth exploring — we value raw and real over polished and safe

Art & visual content

  • Original digital illustrations and artwork
  • Photography relevant to cybersecurity culture
  • Zine-style visual pieces and design work
  • Cover art and editorial illustrations

If you're unsure whether your piece fits, submit it. We'd rather read it than miss it.

What we don't publish

  • Vendor marketing, product promotions, or thinly veiled advertorials
  • Articles that are substantially or entirely AI-generated
  • AI-generated images submitted as standalone art contributions
  • Plagiarised work or content that has already been published elsewhere without disclosure
  • Content that violates Singapore law or infringes third-party IP
  • Low-effort or poorly structured submissions that require substantial editing

Submission requirements

Written articles

  • Minimum length: 600 words
  • Maximum length: No hard limit, but be purposeful. If it can be said in 1,000 words, don't pad it to 3,000.
  • Language: English
  • Format: Markdown (.md) — see the editorial style guide for formatting conventions
  • Images: Attach separately as PNG or JPG. Do not embed images as base64 in the Markdown file.
  • Code blocks: Use fenced code blocks with language identifiers (e.g. ```python)
  • Quality bar: Near-publishable. We perform light editing only. If your submission needs heavy restructuring, we will return it.

Art & visual content

  • File format: PNG, JPG, or SVG
  • Resolution: Minimum 1200px on the longest edge for digital artwork
  • Submission: Include a short description (2–3 sentences) of the piece and its intent

AI usage policy

v0id_deck values authentic human voice and original creative work. The test for all submissions is simple: the ideas, voice, and creative work must be yours. AI may assist the craft. It cannot replace it.

AI in writing

Permitted:

  • Using AI tools to assist with grammar, spelling, and light proofreading
  • Using AI tools to refine or polish writing that is substantially your own

Not permitted:

  • Submitting articles that are substantially or entirely AI-generated
  • Using AI to generate the core ideas, structure, or argument of a piece and presenting it as your own

AI in art

Permitted:

  • Using AI-assisted tools for minor touch-ups on original human-created artwork

Not permitted:

  • Submitting AI-generated images, illustrations, or visual works as original art contributions

AI images as editorial support

AI-generated images are permitted as editorial support within written articles only — cover images or in-article supporting visuals. They must be clearly labelled in the caption as "AI-generated" and are not accepted as standalone art contributions. v0id_deck reserves the right to reject AI images that do not meet our visual standards.

How to submit

  1. Email your submission to submissions@v0iddeck.com
  2. Use the subject line format: [SUBMISSION] Your Article Title
  3. Include the following in your email:
    • Your name or preferred author handle
    • A 1–2 sentence author bio
    • Your submission as an attachment (Markdown for articles, image file for art)
    • Any accompanying images as separate attachments
    • Whether any images are AI-generated
    • Confirmation that the work is original and complies with these terms

You retain full ownership of your submitted content. By submitting to v0id_deck, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to publish, display, and distribute your content on v0iddeck.com and associated channels. This licence does not transfer ownership.

v0id_deck operates on a first-publish model for SEO integrity:

  • All cross-posted versions must include a canonical attribution linking back to the original

Suggested attribution: "This was originally published on v0id_deck (v0iddeck.com)."

  • A permanent, indexed, SEO-optimised home for your work
  • Distribution to the v0id_deck and Div0 community audience
  • Full attribution and contributor credit on all published pieces
  • Cross-posting rights after the 24-hour embargo period

v0id_deck may generate revenue through advertising, sponsorships, or other commercial activities. Such revenue is used to fund platform infrastructure and community operations. Contributors do not hold any claim to platform revenue.

Contributor responsibilities

By submitting content, you confirm that:

  • You are the sole author and original creator of the submitted work
  • Your submission does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights
  • Your submission does not contain classified, confidential, or restricted information
  • Your submission does not violate any employment, non-disclosure, or contractual obligations you are bound by
  • Any third-party sources, data, or quotes are properly attributed
  • Your submission complies with the AI usage policy above
  • Any AI-generated images used as editorial support are clearly labelled as such

You indemnify v0id_deck and its operators against any claims arising from a breach of the above.

Community standards

v0id_deck is a practitioner-run platform built on the principle that cybersecurity is a craft and a culture, not just a job. Contributors are expected to uphold that ethos.

We do not publish content that is discriminatory, harassing, or targeted at individuals. We reserve the right to decline or remove content and to revoke contributor access for conduct inconsistent with community standards.

A note on voice

v0id_deck is not a corporate publication. We do not want sanitised, vendor-safe, career-hedged writing. We want what you actually think. Write like a practitioner talking to another practitioner — direct, honest, and specific.

If you've got something worth saying, we want to publish it.

Governing law & amendments

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.

v0id_deck reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Contributors will be notified of material changes via the v0id_deck website or community channels. Continued submission of content after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
